YMCA of Greater Omaha Volleyball
Volleyball provides kids with a great combination of non-aggressive competition and exercise. It helps develop hand-eye coordination, teamwork and a sense of spatial orientation. Children of all ages can partake in the various benefits of volleyball, since it’s a low-intensity sport that still allows for kids to have fun with each other and learn a great set of skills. The YMCA is proud to offer a variety of Omaha volleyball programs.
Season: Spring and Fall
Our recreational division features eight games per season and one practice each week. Our volunteer coaches will teach your kids the fundamentals of the sport, and help them develop new skills they’ll be able to use elsewhere. All players will play at least half of the time. Teams are organized by the YMCA. A jersey, which you can pick up at your local welcome center, is required.
This is a competitive division featuring games/tournaments and one practice per week. Playing by the rules, sportsmanship, and otherYMCA core values are strictly enforced. We encourage equal play time for everyone, but it is not guaranteed. Players must achieve a 65% or higher score in a skills assessment before being let into this division. You only need to pass the skills assessment once. We will ask you to sign up for an assessment at the point of registration, or you can contact your local YMCA sports director to get enrolled. Game scores and team standings are maintained throughout the season. A jersey, which you can pick up at your local welcome center, is required to play.
